I figured it was time for a wear to work look and I’ve been waiting to wear this look for about a year. I got this skirt from the Gap and I love the detail on it, it’s got a slight shine to it also so it dresses up the typical blue suit skirt. The blazer is from Kaitlyn and the white button-down under is from Gap (of course, I always wear something from Gap). I accessorized with heels from Guess and necklace from Juicy Couture. I’m always searching for more formal or wear to work outfits that are fashionable too, because it can hard to dress appropriately and still be stylish.
It’s still sort of fall, right? I love this look because it is super warm and a great integration of fall colors. My boots are the Ellerby Enzo Angiolini boots from Nordstrom which I love wearing for more formal occasions, I have another pair of black boots for going out casually. I totally recommend investing in two pairs of black boots, in fact I call it my Black Boot Rule— have one for more formal occasions and ones that you wouldn’t be upset if they got a little dirty. It’s such a basic item that investing in two is totally worth it because you’ll wear it a lot. I of course added my black Kate Spade purse–my absolute go-to purse these days.
This is a totally girly look but I LOVE IT! I got this adorable denim top with white embroidery detail a few weeks ago at Kohls. I love it because I’m a huge follower of the denim button down trend but I’ll be honest, I was looking for a way to reinvent my basic denim look and this outfit totally does that. It’s causal enough that I can wear natural make-up too which is another huge plus. I wore it with my Tiffany’s Daisy Pearl Necklace (from the Gatsby collection) because it is dainty and girly which goes with this whole look.
The look brings me back to my high school private school days. I love putting a sweater over a a flannel look because it instantly dresses it up. I added a belt to give more shape to the look because otherwise it can seem a little top heavy. This look is my g0-to for grabbing coffee with friends, it’s got an academic feel to it that works well with coffee houses. The flannel is American Living, the belt and sweater are Gap of course (one of my favorite brands).
Another way I wear my Must-Have Skater Skort from Forever 21 is with a red blazer from the Gap, a fun t-shirt from Forever 21 and a black Kate Spade. I love this look because it adds a strong pop of color. Scientifically speaking adding red to your outfit gets you noticed more by guys ladies, so if that’s what you’re after this outfit is a good-choice for you! The look is also professional (the blazer) yet girly (the skort) which can be a hard combination to come. I’ve found that mixing up which shoes you wear with this look totally alters the type of event you can wear it to, I personally like to wear my white Keds with this look but there’s nothing stopping you from wearing heels or wedges. I added red lipstick because it went with the outfit and it really polishes the look overall in my opinion, however normally I am very careful about red lipstick because I’m so pale it’s a little hard for me to pull off.
Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a dress, this is actually a Forever 21 Must-Have Skater Skort with a cute, part lace top from Kaitlyn (closer look at the lace detail in photo below). I love the skort because I can wear it out and not worry about it being delicate to dance in. It really is the best of both shorts and a skirts! You’ll be seeing me pair this skort with tons of different looks on the blog this coming week, it’s such an affordable buy and one that you can pair with a variety of looks!
Accessories can make or break and outfit. I love pairing a more complex outfit with these light Sam & Libby flats I got from Target. They are basic enough to go with everything, but they have a little character to them with the fake snake skin look to them.
Jewelry also really compliments an outfit. For this one I chose these cute bracelets that are stacked together. I love that they, just like my shoes, are basic enough to go with almost anything, but they have a little charm which gives them character!
Last, but not least I wore these with a skirt I got a boutique a few years ago, a Forever 21 belt, and a cute detailed top from Kaitlyn, a small chain of stores on the West coast.
