Mondays are incredibly depressing, so here’s to hoping this look on the blog makes yours a little cheerier. There are a few things you won’t believe about how this outfit came together, 1) I needed to go to the grocery store and 2) I had no where to go after that. I basically dressed up for little to no reason at all, considering I normally go to the grocery with wet hair and sporting sweat pants.
The top I got for a steal from Clothing Shop Online, I also have it in Maroon and the pants are of course, from the Gap, where I get most of my pants. I paired it with a Juicy Couture necklace, the Kate Spade Lainey purse and these adorable snake printed loafers from the Gap. To be honest when I bought these loafers I thought I would wear them all the time because they are so incredibly cute, but they are so dressy at the same time it’s hard to find an everyday excuse to wear them. I’m excited though, that I FINALLY found an outfit they fit well. Out of everything I’m wearing I would say the top is the item I wear the most, I shop at Clothing Shop Online for my basics because they are of strong quality and truly at the best prices on the internet. Well, that’s all for now, but check back soon for more fun looks!
I figured it was time for a wear to work look and I’ve been waiting to wear this look for about a year. I got this skirt from the Gap and I love the detail on it, it’s got a slight shine to it also so it dresses up the typical blue suit skirt. The blazer is from Kaitlyn and the white button-down under is from Gap (of course, I always wear something from Gap). I accessorized with heels from Guess and necklace from Juicy Couture. I’m always searching for more formal or wear to work outfits that are fashionable too, because it can hard to dress appropriately and still be stylish.
It’s still sort of fall, right? I love this look because it is super warm and a great integration of fall colors. My boots are the Ellerby Enzo Angiolini boots from Nordstrom which I love wearing for more formal occasions, I have another pair of black boots for going out casually. I totally recommend investing in two pairs of black boots, in fact I call it my Black Boot Rule— have one for more formal occasions and ones that you wouldn’t be upset if they got a little dirty. It’s such a basic item that investing in two is totally worth it because you’ll wear it a lot. I of course added my black Kate Spade purse–my absolute go-to purse these days.
Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a dress, this is actually a Forever 21 Must-Have Skater Skort with a cute, part lace top from Kaitlyn (closer look at the lace detail in photo below). I love the skort because I can wear it out and not worry about it being delicate to dance in. It really is the best of both shorts and a skirts! You’ll be seeing me pair this skort with tons of different looks on the blog this coming week, it’s such an affordable buy and one that you can pair with a variety of looks!
Accessories can make or break and outfit. I love pairing a more complex outfit with these light Sam & Libby flats I got from Target. They are basic enough to go with everything, but they have a little character to them with the fake snake skin look to them.
Jewelry also really compliments an outfit. For this one I chose these cute bracelets that are stacked together. I love that they, just like my shoes, are basic enough to go with almost anything, but they have a little charm which gives them character!
Last, but not least I wore these with a skirt I got a boutique a few years ago, a Forever 21 belt, and a cute detailed top from Kaitlyn, a small chain of stores on the West coast.
I’m in love with my newest hoodie from ClothingShopOnline.com. I wanted a bright, comfy hoodie and they had the perfect one from Canvas for just $13.49! It’s super soft even after a few washes and it’s bright enough to wear with a cute outfit without looking like I’m in loungewear. I suggest getting one or two or three…can you tell I’m crazy about it? It’s unisex too so you can totally loan it to one of your guy friends to wear for the night without hearing them complain about it being a girl’s sweatshirt. Obviously I would suggest a less bright color for a guy, for instance, I also have this one in gray as well. I’m hoping to get the pink one for myself soon.
I love this look for a date night. However, one of the most important things to wear on a date you can’t see with the human eye…that’s right, perfume! Your scent really defines you, which is why I carry a stick of deodorant and a small perfume in my purse whenever possible. The scent is my purse tonight is Sunshine from gap (the yellow one in the photo). I love that these are small enough to fit in my purse. It’s still winter here so I’m wearing my Gap Jacket with the Gap Legging Jean and a gray long sleeve top. I paired it with dark brown boots and my favorite lip gloss from NYX.
I’m just going out for a bite to eat but I love this business casual type look. I would totally wear it to work. The blazer and jeans are from Gap, the combat boots are from Image, and the denim shirt is from Rubbish. I accented it with a cute ring I got a few years ago.
After a good, relaxing night in every girl needs a night out. I found this dress at Keene today, it’s edgy with a pleather top and yet delicate with a flowy bottom. I immediately thought of a statement necklace from Bebe, which I’ve had for a few years now. The whole look is simple, yet intriguing. I love that it’s conservative enough to wear to a formal event and edgy enough to wear out to a club. This dress is certainly my new Little Black Dress for 2014! Excited to wear it a couple different ways.
Whenever I put together an outfit, in the back of my mind I’m always looking for that “wow factor.” That one thing you’re wearing that everyone is going to notice. Back in my sorority days, this was also known as the one item that every sister of mine would ask to borrow every other week. It was almost as if this item and my name were synonymous. I believe every girl should have one of these items. Maybe you got it at a boutique no one has ever heard of and threatened the owner to destroy any duplicates of it so no girl could ever possibly have this one item…whatever you did it was all for the sake of the “wow factor.”
My “wow factor” item today is perhaps a little more attainable than going to a boutique, in fact it’s as simple as going to your local Anthropologie. This sweater looks cozy and adorable all in one. It goes well with your basic jeans, boots, and gold jewelry. It’s the perfect shade for Thanksgiving and the holidays which also makes it ideal. It’s a little more expensive than the average sweater, but it’s one you’ll wear a bunch in fall. Think of it an investment in your new favorite item in your closet. What’s your “wow factor”?
